About Greg
Greg serves as Chief of Staff to Vice President Ambler, oversees finance and administration for student affairs, and provides leadership for the Community Values & Connection thematic area which includes the offices of Conflict Resolution & Education, Family Engagement, Gender-Based Violence Resources & Advocacy Services, and Student Accountability & Restorative Practices.
Prior to entering the world of higher education, Greg was the director of an outdoor education center in New York’s Adirondack mountains. Before joining William & Mary in 2003, he was the assistant director of experiential education at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. He started his career at William & Mary in Campus Recreation where he oversaw sport clubs and aquatics.
In 2010, Greg began working in the vice president’s office where he oversaw major traditional events such as Opening Convocation, Family Weekend, Yule Log, and Commencement. He was promoted to Chief of Staff in 2012, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs Finance & Administration in 2022, and Associate Vice President for Community Values & Connection in 2024.
Greg received a bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Geneseo and a master’s degree in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership from William & Mary.
A lifelong outdoor and sports enthusiast, Greg enjoys hiking, biking, running, and swimming. He is a USA Triathlon level I certified triathlon coach and teaches William & Mary’s 1-credit wellness course “Swim, Bike, Run: An Introduction to Multi-Sport Training.” Greg lives in Williamsburg with his wife, Lesley – a school psychologist and licensed counselor, and their three boys, Rowan, Lucas, and Keller.
