Seeking Students to Join ISSP’s Student Programming Team

The Office of International Students, Scholars & Programs (ISSP) is seeking two undergraduate students and two graduate students to serve on our newly created Student Programming Team for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Student Programming Team will be responsible for developing and implementing trips, events, and activities for international students.

In addition to core responsibilities listed below, this position offers meaningful leadership development and hands-on experience in event planning, project management, campus engagement, and international student support. Team members can also expect to develop their skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking.
About the Role
- Team members will work 10-12 hours during International Student Orientation (August 17-25, 2026) and approximately 5 hours/week during the fall and spring semesters
- Occasional work during evenings and weekends is required
- Students are not expected to work during official university breaks (e.g., spring break, winter break, summer)
- This is a hybrid position—approximately 70% work done in-person and 30% work done remotely
- $800 stipend once per semester
Core Responsibilities
- Provide staffing support for fall and spring International Student Orientations 1-2 weeks prior to the beginning of each semester
- Take the lead on developing, planning, executing, and evaluating 1-2 events per semester
- Provide support to other team members to prepare and execute semester events
- Collaborate with campus offices, student groups, and off-campus organizations to develop programs
- Complete Van Certification Training and drive the Reves van for off-campus trips
- Use Canva and other software to create digital fliers and advertise events on multiple digital platforms
- Use Qualtrics to create and manage event attendance lists
- Manage work schedule and submit timesheets in alignment with W&M policies
- Complete administrative tasks as assigned
Minimum Eligibility
To serve on the ISSP Student Programming Team, students are required to:
- Be a current undergraduate or graduate student at W&M or VIMS
- Plan to be re-enrolled in W&M or VIMS for the entire 2026-2027 academic year
- Attend a mandatory training session on Monday, August 17, 2026
- Be available to work during International Student Orientation during August 17-25, 2026
- Be eligible to complete W&M Van Certification Training
- Hold a U.S. driver’s license over the past two years
- Provide a complete driving record for a U.S. driver’s license for the past 2 years
- No moving violations within the past year
