Position Responsibilities
Community Development Assistants at William & Mary are part-time student staff members responsible for the Center for Community Development. The Community Development Assistant (CDA) is a member of the Residence Life staff reporting directly to the Graduate Assistant for Community Development, and Assistant Director.
Community Development Assistants will comply with all policies, procedures, and conditions printed in the current edition of the Student Handbook, the Residence Life Student Staff Manual, the Community Development Assistant Employment Agreement, the Student Acknowledgement of Confidentiality in Working with Administrative Data Agreement, and the written expectations provided by the GA for Community Development or the Assistant Director.
Community Development Assistants will report directly to the Graduate Assistant for Community Development. Community Development Assistants work an average of twelve (12) hours per week over the Fall and Spring semesters per the dates specified in the Employment Agreement.
Position Description
- Assist with timely projects inside the Center for Community Development (CCD) and the Office of Residence Life.
- Assist in the inventory of supplies.
- Assist with print requests and other tasks in the CCD.
- Plan and organize initiatives for Campus Living Student Leaders.
- Assist with the publication of the CCD Connects (Newsletter)Plan and carry out a social media plan for the office of Residence Life to inform students of important residential updates, market student staff positions, and engage the community across multiple platforms.
- Provide support with the creation and evaluation of bulletin boards in residential communities.
- Assist with the administrative functions in the Office of Residence Life to include Student Check-Ins and routine residence life projects.

- Strong desire to support the development of community within the residence halls and across campus.
- Ability to problem-solving while working both individually and collaboratively
- Strong Communication skills (in person and via email)
- Customer service experience
