HPC Accounts for External Collaborators

Note to sponsors from requesting affiliate accounts for external collaborators: please check with your department before submitting an request as additional requirements may be required by your department.

If you already have a W&M Username, you can request an HPC account now. Since external collaborators do not already have W&M Usernames, an external collaborator's William & Mary sponsor must first request an affiliate W&M Username for their collaborator using Request IT (see below). Once the collaborator receives their W&M Username and password, the collaborator must then use them to request HPC access.

The affiliate account form in Request IT is only to request the prerequisite W&M Username. An HPC account will not be created or renewed without the collaborator filling out the (separate) HPC account request form, and HPC-specific requests, such as for access to chinook, must be sent to [[w|hpc-help]].

IMPORTANT: VPN and W&M Email

Affiliates do not get access to the W&M VPN or W&M email by default.

Requesting an affiliate W&M Username:

Go to Affiliate/Contractor/Student Affiliate accounts on gethelp.wm.edu -> Information Technology -> Browse Service Catalog -> Accounts & Information Security -> Affiliate/Contractor/Student Affiliate accounts -> Request/Renew Affiliate account.
Fill out the form and be sure to request any non-default services you require for the affiliate (e.g. VPN, email, etc.).
Once the affiliate account is active, the affiliate can go to the HPC account request form
