Supporting the Use of Indigenous Foods in Child Nutrition ProgramsBio
Coming from a country (El Salvador) that is known for its biodiversity, much of my childhood was filled with seeing my loved ones show appreciation to the nature that surrounded us. I grew up with a family that harvested, cultivated, and preserved food as much as possible. In doing so, my family allowed for preservation of ancestral knowledge and without knowing also pushed for my interest in biological studies specifically with ecological work. I love being surrounded by nature and appreciating all that it is doing for us.
In addition to this interest I am also passionate about education and policy work that enables the preservation of indigenous system for ecological conservation. I love being able to connect my passion for biology and education when it comes to work that I do and my CRP project has allowed me to explore this further. After graduation I hope to continue my studies at the graduate level with the goal to obtain a juries doctorate to work in the field of education or environmental law.
Giving back to the Earth is important to me and a big part of who I am and I hope to continue educating others so that they can also feel the same love that I feel for nature and all it has to offer.
