William & Mary Student GRS Research Awards

William & Mary graduate students who have had abstracts accepted into the Graduate Research Symposium are welcome to submit papers for these awards. 

Awards to be offered are subject to availability of funds. The number of awards offered will be determined by the award committee based on the number and quality of submissions.

Graduate Research Symposium Awards for Excellence in Scholarship

Up to four awards, each in the amount of $500, will be distributed to graduate researchers (master's or doctoral) from across the four research-focused graduate units at William & Mary: A&S, CDSP, Education, and Batten School/VIMS. 

Graduate Research Symposium Honorable Mention Awards for Excellence in Scholarship, 

Up to four honorable mention awards, each in the amount of $250, will be distributed to graduate researchers (master's or doctoral) from across the four research-focused graduate units at William & Mary: A&S, CDSP, Education, and Batten School/VIMS. 

Graduate Studies Advisory Board Award for Excellence in Scholarship in the Humanities and Social Sciences (A&S doctoral students)

One award of $1,000, which recognizes research by a doctoral student in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Graduate Studies Advisory Board Award for Excellence in Scholarship in the Sciences (CDSP doctoral students)

One award of $1,000, which recognizes research by a doctoral student in the School of Computing Data Science, and Physics. 

Carl J. Strikwerda Award for Excellence in the Humanities and Social Sciences (A&S master’s students)

Up to two awards of $250 each. Disciplines include American studies, anthropology, history, and public policy.

Carl J. Strikwerda Award for Excellence in the Sciences (A&S and CDSP master’s students)

Up to two awards of $250 each. Disciplines include applied science, biology, chemistry, computational operations research, computer science, data science, psychological sciences and physics.
