Chapter Overview & HistoryKappa Delta logo

The Alpha Pi chapter of Kappa Delta, founded in 1928, is home to over 100 passionate and dedicated members who strive every day to seek what is honorable, beautiful, and highest. Guided by Kappa Delta’s four values–friendship & loyalty, personal integrity, lifelong learning, and selfless service–our sisterhood encourages each member to become the best version of themself. We’re proud to support our four philanthropies—Prevent Child Abuse America, Connor’s Heroes, the Avalon Center, and Girl Scouts USA—through campus-wide events like KD Cookout in the fall and Kampus Golf in the spring. We also love getting involved directly in our community with hands-on service, whether that’s volunteering with local Girl Scout troops or helping out with springtime cookie sales!

When you join our chapter, you become part of something bigger—a national sisterhood of overKD members on lake 309,000 initiated members, 167 collegiate chapters, and 150+ alumnae chapters across the globe; you gain not only a support system for college, but a lifelong network of KDs. At Alpha Pi, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming chapter culture through regular DEI workshops, fundraisers, presentations, and inclusion initiatives. Confidence-building is central to our organization—whether that’s through leadership, service, or simply showing up for one another. At the heart of it all is our sisterhood, which we encourage through regular bonding events and opportunities to get to know one another (some past favorites being laser tag and karaoke). In Alpha Pi, we truly live out Kappa Delta’s mission: encouraging members to live with integrity and honor in the bonds of lifelong friendship, building confidence in members to excel in college and throughout their lives, inspiring members to be active leaders, responsible citizens and engaged members of the community, and providing opportunities and experiences that foster personal and professional growth for a lifetime.

Member TestimonialsKD Exec

Since bid day, KD has brought me everything and more than I ever imagined. My heart is always so full from all [of the] love, laughter, and support from my sisters. No matter what part of W&M I’m at, there’s always a KD around. Whether it’s the KDorch, the hallway outside ISC 1221, or on the trek back to GGV there’s always a sister or two who want to stop and talk. Being from out-of-state, I went through recruitment looking for a group of girls that were welcoming, kind, and would make W&M feel more like a home away from home. These girls are genuinely some of the most sweet, intelligent, and welcoming people I’ve ever met. I look up to all of them and cherish my friendships with them so much!” -Claire Powers, Class of 2028

“I chose KD because of how comfortable I felt being myself and how well I clicked with everyone I met. As a transfer, I was nervous about coming into a school where people already had their groups, but everyone in KD welcomed me with open arms, and my sorority fam truly became more than just friends. KD is truly what you make of it, and it became my home.” -Anna Lane, Class of 2026
