Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at William & Mary, the Nu Chi Chapter, was founded nationally on January 15, 1908, at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and established on campus in 1981. As the first historically African American sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha has a long-standing legacy of service, leadership, and sisterhood, which the Nu Chi Chapter proudly upholds within the William & Mary community.
With salmon pink and apple green as its colors, the Nu Chi Chapter supports philanthropic efforts benefiting Avalon and the American Heart Association, reflecting a strong commitment to advocacy, health awareness, and community service. Through service initiatives, leadership development, and campus engagement, Alpha Kappa Alpha provides members with opportunities to make a meaningful impact while fostering lifelong connections grounded in sisterhood and service.
