Sigma Pi is founded on principles that emphasize brotherhood, scholarship, morality, character development, culture, chivalry, and civic responsibility. The Alpha-Eta Chapter upholds these values by fostering integrity, leadership, and accountability while encouraging members to contribute meaningfully to their community and profession.
Chapter Overview & History
The Alpha-Eta Chapter of Sigma Pi was established at William & Mary in 1931 and is the 13th-oldest active Sigma Pi chapter nationally. Since its founding, the chapter has remained committed to developing well-rounded leaders through academic excellence, character formation, and lifelong brotherhood.
Composed of more than 80 brothers across nearly every academic discipline at William & Mary, Sigma Pi emphasizes leadership development both inside and outside the classroom. Through long-standing traditions such as Mountain Weekend, Spring Formal, and the annual Woodstock philanthropy event, members are placed in meaningful roles of responsibility that encourage personal growth, teamwork, and service. The chapter strives to create a college experience that prepares members not only for academic success, but for leadership and life beyond graduation.
