Beta Theta Pi at William & Mary, the Zeta Upsilon Chapter, traces its national roots to August 8, 1839, when the fraternity was founded at Miami University in Ohio. Known on campus as Beta, the chapter was originally established at the College in 1875 before closing after one year. Beta returned to William & Mary in 2001, re-emerging as the Zeta Upsilon Chapter and continuing to grow into one of the larger and more visible fraternities on campus.
The chapter emphasizes brotherhood, leadership, and service, with a strong commitment to philanthropy supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. With delicate shades of pink and blue as its colors, Beta Theta Pi fosters a welcoming and connected community where members build lasting friendships and contribute positively to campus life. Students interested in learning more are encouraged to attend an open house event and meet the brothers of the chapter.
