Mike Todd, Executive Vice President

Mike Todd assumed the role of William & Mary’s Executive Vice President in August 2024. The Office of the EVP oversees the five units that ensure operational excellence and shepherd the strategic stewardship of the university’s human, financial, physical and technological resources: budgeting and finance, information technology, human resources, compliance & equity and business affairs (itself comprising key departments that span from auxiliary services to capital projects and real estate).

At William & Mary, Mr. Todd leads transformative growth initiatives that advance the university. He steered the implementation of Workday as an enterprise resource platform, streamlining processes. Mr. Todd’s leadership positions the university to leverage strengths, like its recent R1 designation, to amplify impact. Priorities underway include revitalizing housing and dining, master planning, economic development, building and maintaining public-private partnerships and adopting tuition models that reflect the university’s commitment to quality, affordability and efficiency.

Mr. Todd’s vision for leadership is grounded in mission support, securing the conditions for William & Mary to excel. He builds and nurtures diverse, cross-division ecosystems that prioritize connection, shared purpose and accountability.

Mr. Todd’s career spans academic and business operations roles united by his commitment to forging partnerships and amplifying impact. Prior to serving the Alma Mater of the Nation, Mr. Todd held executive leadership roles in finance, administrative services and research operations at globally preeminent public and private institutions such as Lehigh University, Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania and the University of Virginia's School of Engineering. Mr. Todd fostered mission-driven administrative growth by prioritizing people and support services in tandem. He created the conditions to make tuition more affordable and accessible, enhance research capacity, ensure institutional sustainability and drive operational excellence. Early in his career, Mr. Todd served in residential life and as a research fellow, roles that shaped his dedication to student success.

Mr. Todd holds an MBA from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a master’s degree in physics from University of Virginia. He also holds four bachelor’s degrees from University of Missouri: in economics, mathematics, physics and Russian. He brings a driven and cross-functional mindset to operational excellence that propels innovation, opportunity and institutional strength in service of higher education.
