The People's History of D.C. immerses students in the unexpected local history of the nation’s capital from its founding to the present. After several weeks of online learning, D.C. will become our classroom for a week. We’ll visit majestic but lesser-known landmarks and monuments and explore some of D.C.'s most fascinating neighborhoods. By focusing on the city’s residents and culture, students in this course will learn about past and contemporary efforts to challenge racism and other injustices, from the city’s anti-slavery movement to the current push for D.C. statehood.
