Branch Out Alternative Breaks
In a Branch Out Alternative Break, you can join a team and travel during fall, winter, or spring break to engage in service-based learning in partnership with host communities, while connecting with new people and developing skills in issue-based action.
Civic Leadership Program
Learn and practice the skills of engaging with your communities and creating positive social change alongside 14 other committed first and second year students. The Civic Leadership Program spans a Spring, Summer, and Fall term, includes two one-credit course opportunities, and provides you at least $800 for a community-impact summer project.
While supporting the healthy development of young people in Williamsburg,gain a deeper understanding of the root causes of education inequity. You will commit to a semester or year of weekly mentoring, tutoring, or after-school programming.
Connect with local community organizations to complete one-time volunteer projects, learn about the community organization, and build relationships with fellow volunteers. You can register as individuals or as part of a group.
Take an active and informed role in democracy. The William & Mary Voter Engagement committee, composed of students, faculty, and staff, promotes the value of voting by providing information and hosting events year-round that encourage voter education, registration, and participation.
Volunteer weekly for a semester with a local community organization. Through service and reflection, you'll develop a deeper understanding of the nonprofit you support and the issues you address in our communities.
