Background

Elizabeth has been involved with civic and community engagement at William & Mary since she arrived as an undergraduate student and Sharpe Scholar in 2007. She graduated in 2011 with a B.A. in Women’s Studies after four years of learning how to connect her academic interests in inequality, identity, and systems of power with her values and actions. She also obtained her Masters Degree in Higher Education in 2018.

Professionally, Elizabeth first served as an AmeriCorps VISTA within our office and often speaks with students about post-grad public service opportunities. Through her AmeriCorps experience, Elizabeth deepened her commitment to sustainable and local positive community change.

Elizabeth now serves as the Associate Director of W&M Civic & Community Engagement. She oversees W&M GivePulse, facilitates the Civic Leadership Program, manages Community Engagement Grants and Funded Internships, publishes the weekly listserv, facilitates many of our community partner events, and promotes on-campus engagement through a variety of programs. Building on her investment in women's empowerment, Elizabeth co-instructs the Women and Leadership course in Gender Sexuality and Women's Studies, and co-founded W&M Women's Mentoring

She served as President of Greater Williamsburg Volunteer Alliance and on the board of The Arc of Greater Williamsburg, and she currently chairs VA Engage a professional network for civic and community engagement higher education professionals. Elizabeth's commitment to community extends beyond her job, as she hosts dinner dialogues around her dining room table, fosters kittens for Heritage Humane Society, and proudly shares her love for Williamsburg Regional Library.
