Charter Day is upon us and there will be a variety of special events taking place later this week that will impact parking on campus. Notable for this year are the Chancellor’s Forum on Thursday, Charter Day Ceremony & Charnival on Friday, and the Global Research Institute Shark Tank and AMP & SA Comedy Show on Saturday. Included below is an overview of areas that will be impacted from Feb 6-8, 2020.  We recommend that you allow extra time to move around campus during these times and thank you for your patience as we welcome our visitors to campus.

 Wednesday, Feb 5th

  • BOV meetings in Blow Hall start at 11:00 am, standard parking allocation in Dawson Circle (30 spaces) will be in-place through 7:00 pm
Thursday, Feb 6th:       
  • BOV meetings in Blow Hall start at 6:30 am, standard parking allocation in Dawson Circle (30 spaces) will be in-place through 9:00 pm
  • Morton Lot (35 spaces) unavailable from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm WMAA meeting
  • School of Ed lots 6 will be unavailable from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm for the WMF Board meetings
  • Parking Deck Level 1 (18 spaces) from 11:00 am to 5:00 om for the Business Analytics Advisory Board Meetings
  • As the day goes on, general parking demand will increase in the Stadium, Old Dominion, and James Blair Lots to compensate for the displacement from these areas. 
    • Since Alumni House is offline, there are F/S and by permit spaces on College Terrace and Harrison Ave also available for use daily.
  • Chancellor’s Forum will be held in the Sadler Center Commonwealth Auditorium from 8:00 – 9:00 pm – Open guest parking in Zable Stadium and other nearby lots

 Friday, Feb 7th: Parking assets all over campus will be stressed as we make space for the Charter Day events.

  • BOV meetings in Blow Hall start at 6:30 am, standard parking allocation in Dawson Circle (30 spaces) will be in-place through 9:00 pm
  • School of Ed lots 6 will be unavailable from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm for the WMF Board meetings
  • Morton Lot (35 spaces) unavailable from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm WMAA meeting
  • Parking Deck Level 1(18 spaces) from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm for the Business Analytics Advisory Board Meetings
  • The Compton Lot will be offline from 2:00 – 7:00 pm and set aside for VIP Parking with valid passes.
  • Upper Kaplan Arena Lot will be cleared at 2 pm and set aside for Guest Parking
  • The lower Kaplan Arena Lot is designated for General Guest Parking
  • At 2:00 pm the second half of Brooks St will be set as a one-way outbound road from Compton to Richmond Rd for event guests after drop off only. All others should enter at Dillard Ave.
  • Charter Day Ceremony will be held in the Kaplan Arena from 4:00 – 5:00 pm, the Charnival will follow on Brooks St from 5:00 – 6:30 pm.
  • James Blair Dr & Ewell Circle will be offline from 5:00 pm to accommodate VIP Parking for the A&S Dean’s Dinner in the Wren Great Hall starting at 7:00 pm.
  • ROAD CLOSURES
    • Brooks St at Ukrop Way to the Commons lot will be closed for Charnival set up from 12 AM Thursday through 7:00 pm Friday
    • ADA Access will be at Brook St and Compton with drop off at the back ramp to the Arena, ADA parking will be allocated along Brooks St from 2:00- 5:00 pm

 Saturday, Feb 8th:

  • Zable Stadium & Old Dominion Lots are reserved from 7:00 am – 2:00 pm for the Alumni Medallion Ceremony & Reception
  • James Blair lot & Dr (40 spaces) will be offline 10:30 am – 2:00 pm for the Campaign Steering Committee Meeting
  • The Global Research Institute Shark Tank will be held in Alan B. Miller Hall from 2:00 – 4:00 PM – recommend parking in the Deck on Ukrop Way
  • AMP & SA Comedy Show will take place in Sadler Center Commonwealth Auditorium from 8:00 – 10:00 PM featuring Jaboukie Young-White. Open parking
