Local and major-league baseball teams assisting Todd Weaver Fund

A pair of upcoming baseball games will be held in remembrance of William & Mary alum Lt. Todd Weaver ’08, killed in Afghanistan last September.

On Sunday, July 3, at 7 p.m., at the War Memorial Stadium on Pembroke Road in Hampton, the Peninsula Pilots will hold the Todd Weaver Military Appreciation Memorial Game.  The Pilots will be playing the Outer Banks Dare Devils.  There will be fireworks and a host of activities including the presence of the Patriot Guard.

The Patriot Guard Riders is a nationwide group of motorcycle riders who uphold an unwavering respect for the men and women who serve and have served our country. Upon invitation, the group attends funeral services of our country's fallen heroes in an effort to shield the mourning family and friends from interruptions created by any outside protest.

Throughout the game, the Pilots gameday staff will sell "One Tribe. One Family." bracelets to continue the fundraising effort toward the Todd Weaver Memorial Scholarship. The bracelets were created and have been distributed by the William & Mary Student Athlete Advisory Council; so far, the project has raised nearly $30,000.

Fans who wear their bracelets during the game will receive $1 off on sodas from the concessions stand.

Tickets may be purchased online or at the gate.

On Saturday, August 6 in Baltimore, the Weaver family will attend the Orioles game against Todd’s favorite team, the Toronto Blue Jays. First pitch is 7 p.m., and the Weaver family has reserved a block of seats behind the Blue Jays dugout. If you are interested in joining the Weavers for the game, please visit Todd’s website.
