Special discounts and events during first annual William & Mary Night
William & Mary students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the first annual William & Mary Night in Merchants Square from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The evening includes discounts and specials around Merchants Square, a food drive, pictures with Santa, free food and hot beverages, and a street performance.
“With the abundance of shops and restaurants in a historical setting as beautiful as Merchants Square, what better way for the William & Mary community to celebrate the holiday season than with a night of festivities in our very own back yard,” said Cathy Pacheco, general manger of the William & Mary Bookstore and co-coordinator of the event.
The celebration starts at the William & Mary Bookstore in Colonial Williamsburg, where the first 200 individuals to donate at least two canned goods or non-perishable food items will receive a free, limited-edition William & Mary holiday t-shirt. Participants will also receive a special gift bag from Merchants Square with coupons and samples from area shops and restaurants. A photographer will be set up with Santa and his sleigh to capture the magical memories of the evening. Picture packages will be available for purchase, starting at $15.
Free hot chocolate, cider and chili will be served from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Trellis restaurant. An exclusive performance of “A Christmas Carol” will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Duke of Gloucester Street.
Individuals with their W&M ID will receive discounts and specials at the shops around Merchants Square. In addition to the regular student discount on clothing, students will also receive 20 percent off general books, W&M merchandise and Café items at the College Bookstore. The faculty/staff discount of 10 percent will be doubled to 20.
