Linguistics compares favorably with other humanities and social sciences in preparing students for positions requiring strong communication skills, data analysis skills, and a solid liberal arts education.  Where it is strongest is in its attention to analysis and problem solving, skills that transfer well to law, management, consulting work, and graduate work in linguistics, anthropology, philosophy, education, speech pathology, or cognitive science.
