Sam Schuth

CTMA Graduate Student

Current Research: Russia and the Soviet era

Sam’s area of focus at the moment is Russian history, specifically during the Soviet era. He is from North Carolina, and attended UNCW on the NC coast.  He graduated from the Honors program at UNCW with summa cum laude, University Honors, and honors in History. He was also awarded first place in one of the annual undergraduate research festivals held by the History Department in 2012. Among other adventures, he and his wife participated in a Himalayan medical expedition this past summer.  He is married to a native Russian who is currently attending medical school in NC, and they have traveled to Honduras and India together to bring medical care to those less fortunate. On the less adventurous side, he is also a philosophy major (a double major).
