Writing Sprints

What's a Writing Sprint?

Writing Sprints are short blocks of time in which you commit to focus only on your writing. If you're trying to make progress on an article, dissertation, or other big project, but would benefit from some quiet camaraderie and a structured time dedicated to writing, we welcome you to join in!

They're hosted by the GWCC in the Graduate Center (Ewell 250) and via Zoom. You’re welcome to come once, or come every week! We provide a friendly and supportive, yet quiet atmosphere, plus coffee/tea and snacks. You bring your laptop and a can-do attitude! See the schedule below. Please fill out the RSVP form to let us know you're coming, or just show up! Those joining by Zoom must RSVP to receive the link.

Our goal is to provide a time and space for graduate students to set writing goals and work without interruption in a supportive environment. A GWCC consultant will host the session.

  • Bring all the materials you will need so you can work uninterrupted on a portion of your writing project, including books, notes, and your laptop.
  • Set a reasonable goal. Plan what exactly you want to accomplish during the sprint.
