Maria Cristina (Tina) Picardo presented an oral paper entitled “Dbx1-derived interneurons and TRP ion channels in inspiratory bursts and rhythm” on Wednesday November 16th at the 2016 annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in San Diego, CA. The session called “Pre-Bötzinger Complex 25 Years Later: Diverse Functions and their Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms” celebrated the 25th anniversary of the discovery of the brainstem region specialized for generating and regulating breathing and respiratory function. The session was organized and led by Professor and Chair of Applied Science Christopher A. Del Negro. Dr. Picardo was one of six symposiasts selected from universities in England, Canada, and the United States.
