Clear Bag Guidance for Campus Events

A clear bag is required for all attendees at major campus events. To help ensure a smooth arrival, please plan ahead and bring only bags that meet the following guidelines. Check event details to confirm if a clear bag policy is in effect. If an event page links here, these guidelines apply to that event.

Approved bags

Clear tote bag made of plastic, vinyl or PVC, no larger than 24" x 12" x 24"
One-gallon clear plastic zip-style bag
Small purse, clutch or wallet no larger than 6.5" x 4.5" (about the size of your hand). It does not need to be clear
Medical or diaper bags (a child must be present with a diaper bag)

Bags that are not permitted

Backpacks
Printed or tinted plastic bags
Cinch or drawstring bags
Fanny packs
Camera or binocular cases
Purses or bags larger than the sizes above

This policy enables us to move guests through our security checkpoints faster, allowing staff to be more efficient and effective in checking bags that are brought into the venue.

One bag is permitted per guest as long as it is an approved bag such as a one-gallon zip-style bag, 24" x 12" x 24" clear bag or a small clutch that does not exceed 6.5" x 4.5".

Guests will not be allowed into the venue with an unapproved bag. They will be asked to return the items to their vehicle.

Yes. Medical bags and diaper bags are permitted but will be temporarily tagged to show that the bag has been screened and approved. Each bag will be searched upon entry. A diaper bag must be accompanied by a child.

OPENGATE technology will be used at some events at the discretion of campus security and WMPD, and athletics venues use walk-through metal detectors.

Athletics venues follow the Fan Code of Conduct, which lists prohibited items.

Staff and volunteers with event credentials should follow the entry and screening instructions from their event lead.
