About Jonathan

Mr. Tucker has spent over a decade working as an archaeologist in the Mid-Atlantic region, primarily in Virginia. After completing his B.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University, he worked for Cultural Resources Inc, now Stantec (2011-2019), Dutton + Associates LLC (2019-2021), and has joined the senior staff here at WMCAR (2022–present) after completing his M.A. from Durham University in the United Kingdom. Mr. Tucker has worked and supervised at the survey level and on data recovery projects all over the region; this includes all phases of archaeological excavations, historic viewshed analyses, as well as cemetery delineations and exhumations. Some notable projects include much of the Virginia Capital Trail, Fredericksburg Courthouse, and Shuter’s Hill in Alexandria. While most of his training and expertise are in archaeological fieldwork and research, his interests also lie in community engagement and public education.
