About Will
Will Brockenbrough is an architectural historian and photographer with over twenty years of experience documenting, preserving, and planning for historic resources. He holds a B.A. in Public and Urban Affairs from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a Master of Historic Preservation degree from the University of Georgia. His background in urban planning, historic preservation, and architectural design informs his understanding of architectural photography and historic resources consulting. He has extensive experience recording historic structures throughout the United States and abroad. The focus of his work is documenting resources through Historic American Buildings Survey, Historic American Engineering Record, and Historic American Landscape Survey (HABS/HAER/HALS) level photography, measured drawings, and written histories. This work ranges in breadth from eighteenth-century industrial structures to twentieth-century military facilities, including historic homes, bridges, rail facilities, churches, barns, farms, cemeteries, landscapes, quarries, wharfs, warehouses, transmission lines, dams, hydroelectric structures, and college and medical facilities.Will has extensive experience in all phases of HABS/HAER/HALS projects, including large format photography (4x5 and 5x7), photocopies of historic photographs and drawings, research using both primary and secondary sources, writing of historical narratives, compiling indexes to photographs, and creating measured drawings using AutoCAD. He exceeds 36 CFR Part 61 qualifications for History and Architectural History.
