Our unique, holistic curriculum leverages strengths across William & Mary’s campus. Falling under the umbrella of executive business education, Flourishing Through Life Transitions will stress physical and mental wellness, develop insights into corporate culture, and build business skills critical to flourishing in management and other positions. Engaging William & Mary’s #1 MBA faculty in the U.S. (Bloomberg BusinessWeek 2020 and 2019) and subject-matter experts from the Center for Mindfulness and Authentic Excellence, the two-week program will be rigorous and intensive.
Well-documented as a prerequisite for excellence in leadership, integrative wellness will be a central component of our curriculum. Based on the latest research on flourishing, you will engage in experiential learning that fosters a deeper level of effectiveness. You will learn the difference between fear-based excellence and authentic excellence, and how to apply the eight dimensions of wellness to your life. In addition to the core curriculum on flourishing, you will engage in a diverse array of wellness activities and instruction. Examples include mindfulness, autonomic training, gyrokinesis, creative art therapy, ecotherapy/hiking, nutrition, pain management, Yin yoga, GRIT strength and cardio, BodyPump, Outdoor Barre, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Wellness activities will take place in William & Mary’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the McLeod Tyler Wellness Center, Bee McLeod Recreation Center, and the Martha Wren Briggs Amphitheater at Lake Matoaka, adjacent to the Business School.
The program will teach you how to flourish as a professional. Drawing from the core content in our top-ranked MBA program you will learn how to flourish in your craft, your professional relationships, and in your career. You will be taught how to connect flourishing to leadership and to the teams you lead. Flourishing as a professional includes lectures and discussions led by award-winning faculty, experiential learning exercises, interactive individual and group learning modules and discussions led by veterans who are flourishing in their transitions.
Our two-week program is designed to be a transformational experience. By the end of the program, you will see the world, yourself and others in a new and better way—a way that will provide you with the skills, experiences and knowledge required to flourish. In addition, your instructors and fellow participants will become your transition network—a group on which you can depend as you navigate through your future. The program lasts two weeks. What you learn will last a lifetime.
