Gaither-Johnson Summer Research Fellowship

William & Mary Undergraduate Students: Applications are now being accepted and are due by February 19, 2024.
Check out the Charles Center website for information on the application process.

The Gaither-Johnson Summer Fellowship provides undergraduate students a chance to not only conduct research on their topics of choice, but also an opportunity for personal growth and academic discovery. In conjunction with the Lemon Project and championing its goals, this fellowship gives students a resource to investigate the rich history of African-Americans and in a larger context, the African Diaspora.

The Gaither Johnson Family with Diane NashIn applying for and receiving this fellowship, you will be acknowledging and carrying on the legacy of my ancestors, the Gaither and Johnson families.  Like other African-Americans who toiled in slavery and then endured the cruel conditions of Jim Crow, my ancestors made sacrifices to ensure that their children had a better life. This fellowship honors those that paved the way for us.
