Jacquelyn Y. McLendon

Jacquelyn Y. McLendonDr. Jacquelyn Y. McLendon is the Founding Director of Black Studies and Professor of English, Emerita at William & Mary. She is the academic coordinator of the 50th Anniversary of African Americans in Residence and wrote the book "Building on the Legacy: African Americans at William & Mary: An Illustrated History of 50 Years and Beyond."

Her publications include The Politics of Color in the Fiction of Jessie Fauset and Nella Larsen, Phillis Wheatley: Revolutionary Poet (Juvenile), an edited volume titled Approaches to Teaching the Novels of Nella Larsen as well as scholarly essays, reviews and entries in numerous volumes and journals. She is also co-editor of a collection of Nella Larsen's letters and other non-fiction materials and has written on Robert S. Duncanson, a 19th-century African American landscape artist.
