When Nicole Lynn Lewis first set foot on the William & Mary campus, she was overcome with emotion because of the challenges she had faced to get to that point. Unlike most other freshmen her age, Nicole was starting her journey at the university as a parent. She thrived as an English major at William & Mary, where she came into her own and learned what kind of person she wanted to be, all while raising her infant daughter, Nerissa.
After graduating, Nicole earned her master’s degree in public policy and became the founder and CEO of Generation Hope, a nonprofit organization that provides emotional and financial support for young parents pursuing higher education. Nicole has never forgotten the obstacles she had to overcome as a single parent, and has dedicated her life to helping other young parents who are trying to balance parenthood and schoolwork. She is currently writing her first book on her experience in college raising her daughter and founding Generation Hope.
