John is the director and one of the founders of Atlantic Forum (www.Atlantic-Forum.com), a grassroots start-up NGO promoting NATO and the transatlantic values of the Washington Treaty working closely with NATO PDD. Atlantic Forum focuses on young professionals in the age group 18-35. Between 2016 en 2018 John was the president of the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association, and from 2015 till 2019 he has been a board member of the Dutch Branch: Jonge Atlantici (Netherlands Atlantic Youth). When not involved with NATO Youth engagement, John a Captain in the Royal Netherlands Army and currently stationed at the CIMIC Centre of Excellence in The Hague where he is involved with the training & education branch. His work with the Dutch military has large been with the subject of Hybrid Warfare or it’s periphery, including PsyOps, Public Affairs and (countering) disinformation. In 2017 John deployed to Lithuania with the first rotations of the enhanced Forward Presence. He has a master’s degree from Radboud University (Netherlands) in Social Geography and has previously studied at King’s College London (United Kingdom).
