Changes regarding network storage drives
IT has kicked off a project to retire legacy local storage and move to modern cloud storage.
An upcoming university technology project will have an impact on your network storage drives. W&M Information Technology is beginning the process of moving from local storage (H: drives) to Microsoft OneDrive. The university strives to find new ways to take a cloud-first approach to technology, and this change will allow W&M to do that while maximizing the return on investment in our Microsoft O365 license, additionally allowing for increased benefits and improved efficiency for users and administrators.
Note: Group drives (G: drives) will be addressed during the second phase of this project. Google drives will not be impacted by this change.
How to prepare for the migration
- Only content that needs to be migrated should be migrated. Please take some time to clean out your H: drive to prepare it for migration.
W&M IT will migrate the contents of your personal drive to OneDrive. H: drive content will be migrated throughout the summer and will wrap up at the end of August.
