The Joy Advantage: Building Resilience Through Connection, Purpose and Play Our best work doesn't happen when we're simply pushing through—it happens when we feel connected, purposeful, and fully engaged. This interactive workshop invites participants to explore joy as a powerful leadership and resilience practice rather than a luxury. Together, we'll examine how small, intentional moments of connection, purpose, and play can improve collaboration, foster belonging, and help us thrive through change. Through reflection, discussion, and hands-on activities, participants will leave with practical strategies for cultivating joy in themselves, their teams, and their everyday work.Led by Valerie Wilkins W&M Value: Excellence Register here by September 2 |

Food Insecurity at Prestige-Oriented Universities: Promoting Opportunity Equity for Low-Income Students. This Lunch and Learn will explore the features of selective “prestige-oriented” universities, like William & Mary, that both attract and challenge students from low-income backgrounds who might struggle with food insecurity. The co-authors of Starving the Dream: Student Hunger and the Hidden Costs of Campus Affluence (Johns Hopkins, 2025) will use the findings from their multi-institutional case study to underscore the features of upper-middle-class lifestyle norms, involvement expectations, and assumed surplus resources that invisibly shape - and strain - the collegiate experiences of students from poor and working-class backgrounds. The conversation will also highlight how the priorities of these students result in adaptive navigational strategies with their own benefits and costs. Participants will take away an enhanced imagination and key campus practices to support the full participation of students on the socioeconomic margins in opportunity-rich campus W&M Value: Service Register here by October 12 |

Peace of Mind Planning Advance care planning is more than filling out documents. It begins with conversations about our values, how we want to live, and who should speak for us when we cannot speak for ourselves. It is an ongoing process of reflecting on what matters most, preparing for future medical decisions, and ensuring the people you trust understand your wishes. The workshop will explore why this planning matters at every age, how values influence medical decisions, and how to begin difficult conversations with loved ones using clear, values-based language. Participants will learn about various advance directive forms, health care agents, tools for end-of-life planning, and manageable steps they can take to reduce uncertainty and communicate their wishes.
