Kathy Carter
Advisory Board Member
Kathy Carter has spent more than 30 years shaping the business of soccer in the United States, from the sport's grassroots growth in the 1990s to the global stage of FIFA and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Since 2024, Carter has been Managing Partner at 48 Ventures, focusing on advisory work and investment in soccer, with an emphasis on the women's game.
From 2018 to 2024, Carter served as CEO of LA28, overseeing the organization's build-out ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. Before being named CEO, she led commercial efforts for Team USA and the LA28 bid.
Prior to LA28, Carter's career was built entirely around soccer: she got her start with the 1994 FIFA World Cup, then became a founding executive at Major League Soccer, and went on to serve as President of Soccer United Marketing, MLS's commercial marketing arm.
Carter has also been a driving force in growing women's soccer internationally, having served as the U.S. representative on FIFA's Committee for Women's Football and the FIFA Women's World Cup.
Her honors include WISE Woman of the Year, two-time Sports Business Journal 40 Under 40, Crain's New York 40 Under 40, and a place on Forbes' list of The Most Powerful Women in Sports.
