Chapter Overview & History
The Beta Lambda Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta is a sisterhood rooted in inclusion, support, and personal excellence. Our members are empowered to grow as individuals while contributing to something greater than themselves, finding lifelong friendships and a sense of belonging within our chapter and the larger W&M campus. Through leadership opportunities and shared values, we foster an environment where every sister can thrive.
Beyond our chapter, we are committed to serving the greater Williamsburg community through meaningful service and outreach. Whether volunteering and supporting local organizations like Colonial CASA, or engaging in positive interactions and contributions across campus, we believe in using our voices and efforts to uplift others with Theta love.

Member Testimonials
"I joined Theta in the spring of my freshman year, and it’s genuinely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. During COB recruitment, every conversation I had with the women in this chapter felt effortless and real, and each one left me feeling more at home. I remember calling my mom after each conversation and telling her how similar I was to every single one of them. It didn’t seem possible, but it was. That feeling only grew stronger, and I’ll never forget how excited I was to receive my Theta bid. Over a year later, that same excitement and love for this sisterhood still hasn’t faded. Theta has opened so many doors for me: to new people, new experiences, and new parts of myself. My sisters constantly inspire me to grow, to lead with kindness, and to show up as the best version of myself. Taking on a leadership role in the chapter has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my college experience. I love being able to give back to the organization that has given me so much, and it’s been incredibly meaningful to help support and guide our chapter behind the scenes. What means the most to me is knowing that no matter what kind of day I’m having, I always have someone I can talk to, laugh with, or simply just be myself around. Joining Theta forever changed my time at W&M, and I know I’ll always have a home at 155 Richmond Road." - Riley Surratt, ‘27
"As an older sister, I wasn’t sure that I would be able to find a true sisterhood during my college experience. I decided to go through recruitment, and the experience immediately put my worries to rest. Running home to the welcoming faces of my Theta sisters on bid day will always be one of my fondest memories at W&M. This chapter has shown me what true sisterhood and supporting one another looks like, as well as what it’s like to surround yourself with people who love you for you. Fun memories like movie nights, formals, or even just coffee dates with sisters will stick with me always. I could not be more grateful that my freshman self decided to go through recruitment, and I am thrilled that I get to spend my time at William & Mary as a Theta! " - Norah Harrison, ‘27
"I remember the first time I walked into the Theta house during recruitment; I had a gut feeling that
this chapter would be special. As I went through recruitment, the conversations I had felt so natural, and I could tell people truly cared about what I had to say. As my time in the chapter has gone on, my love for Theta has grown infinitely, and I can confidently say that my gut feeling was right. Being in Theta has made my self-confidence grow so much, both from being surrounded by uplifting people and gaining so many incredible role models. I feel so at home with my sisters, and I have learned so much about who I am and who I want to be from them. The people who I’ve met in Theta are the kind of friends who you can have fun and be silly with, but they’re also the kind of people who will be honest with you and look out for your best interests. I feel so grateful to be surrounded by such loyal and kind people, and every day I am so grateful that I chose Theta." - Mallory McDonald, ‘27
