Mission Launch: Afterschool Program
William & Mary student volunteers offer academic, peer, and emotional support at least two afternoons each week from 2:50pm - 5:00pm for two 10-week programs (one in fall & spring). Our focus within the programs is to bridge the opportunity gap in order to help facilitate positive educational, social, and emotional development in young people. Activities in Mission Launch Afterschool include an engaging curriculum that provides students more opportunities to use their curiosity and creativity to grow and think. Students are expected to attend all sessions each week. Snack is provided.
Weekly AttendanceAs an Afterschool volunteer, you will volunteer 2-3 hours in the afternoon at least once each week at a local middle school, providing academic support and leading group activities based in a STEM-curriculum. Consistent, on-time weekly attendance is critical to our relationships with schools, students, and families. In the case of illness/family emergency, you must inform their team leaders in advance. |
Training & Issue EducationIn addition to onboarding trainings for new members, you will have to attend 1 additional training for After School per semester. You volunteers must also attend 1 issue education per semester |
Reflection SessionsDuring the semester there will be 3-4 reflection sessions (1 hour) with your group. Either the Team Leads or After School Coordinator(s) will run these meetings. |
