The W&M Civic Action Scorecard

Civic Action Awards

Each time you record an action you earn points which are displayed on our public leaderboard. As the points add up, you will receive Civic Action Awards and rewards.

  • To receive an award, you must have completed at least one action in each of the five action categories.
  • Awards are conferred annually based on your point total as of April 1 of that year.

Group Recognitions

Civic life is a collective endeavor. These are ways groups can participate and be rewarded together.

Residence Life

If 60% of an residence life area earns 10 civic action points between August 25 and November 25, all residents of that area will receive prizes and official recognition in early 2027.

The top five most civically active halls (#points/resident) will receive a civic celebration pizza party, and all halls are able to unlock surprise rewards along the way (swag, snacks, and more).

Residents record civic actions on the scorecard as normal, and we'll tabulate the results.

Recognized Student Organizations

Does your recognized student organization want to compete to become Civic Action Certified, earning bragging rights, official recognition, and prizes?  If 60% of your members complete at least 15 points on the Civic Action Scorecard by December 1, 2026, you can be!

To compete, you must register your organization for the competition by September 30.

*Actions taken by a student automatically count for their individual awards and rewards as well as any residence hall or groups.
