Beta Testing
William & Mary is going digital with Mobile Tribe Card! With this feature, students, faculty, and staff can use an iPhone or Apple Watch on campus to access buildings, attend campus events, and make payments anywhere your Tribe Card can be used. Simply tap your device at the same reader where you use your physical student ID card - no need to wake the device or open an app.
As a member of our community currently on campus for the summer, we invite you to be the first to use this new feature as part of the beta program.
What is a beta program?
A select group of the campus population is being chosen to try Mobile Tribe Card. You will be part of the group that helps us ensure the product is ready for launch to the entire campus. Since you will be able to use your device anywhere Tribe Card is currently used, we need active beta users to be testing all across campus.
What do I need to have in order to participate?
In order to participate, you will need an eligible device with a passcode (at minimum) enabled:
- An Apple ID signed into iCloud
- iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus or later, and running iOS 13 or later
- Apple Watch Series 1 or later, and running watchOS 6.3 or later
To help keep your student ID card in the Apple Wallet secure, multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required. Your iPhone must be registered through Duo. For further instructions, visit Information Technology.
How to get started in the beta program?
Please view the video below for information on how to download your mobile credential and add it to your device wallet:
*Please allow 30 minutes after successful download of credential before attempting use on campus hardware for provisioning to complete.
What is expected of me as a beta tester?
We encourage you to use your Tribe Card in Apple Wallet and file any issues or feedback to support@wm.edu. When sharing feedback, please include the following:
- What date/time did the issue occur (include timezone)?
- What does the issue you are having involve? Did you encounter an issue within the app, at the reader, etc?
- Did this issue occur multiple times (i.e. would we be able to reproduce it or was it a one-time occurrence)?
- Please describe the issue and include screenshots or videos of the issue to help us recreate the problem
Who can I contact for support?
Auxiliary Services can be reached by email at auxiliary@wm.edu.
Do I still need my physical card if I have my Tribe Card in Apple Wallet?
During the beta period, we strongly recommend you have your physical card with you as a backup in case you encounter any issues with your card in Apple Wallet. And if you do have an issue, make sure to use the feedback form to report it.
We look forward to your participation!
