About

What we do and why we do it

Parking and Transportation services at William & Mary are dedicated to providing William & Mary students and faculty with a safe and organized campus, and the ability to get you where you need to go. Sometimes this means we have to lay down the law, but we also do a lot to make the W&M area an easy place to explore.

Parking

The purpose of motor vehicle regulations is to reduce traffic congestion, facilitate orderly parking, provide a safe campus environment and to promote the fair and consistent enforcement of rules. The Code of Virginia (S23-9.2:3) grants to the Board of Visitors the power to provide parking and traffic rules and regulations on property owned by the university and the District Courts require the Board of Visitors approval for local enforcement of motor vehicle regulations. The Board of Visitors has authorized the Office of Parking Services and the Campus Police to provide for the safety of persons on university property by enforcing these rules and regulations.

Transportation

The purpose of the William & Mary Transportation department is to provide flexible and convenient transportation to the students and faculty of the university. Transportation programs such as the William & Mary Bike Alliance, Zipcar, and the bus and trolley systems help you get around and offer a more environmentally friendly option than driving a personal car around campus and the Williamsburg area.
