William & Mary students enrolled in the Flex (Part-time) MBA Program are showing their commitment to ‘profit with a purpose.’
This semester, students are engaging with the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula to learn how business principles apply to non-profit organizations. They are learning to apply their knowledge of subjects such as marketing and logistics to not-for-profits, while expanding their involvement with social entrepreneurship.
As part of the program, the students are participating in a canned food drive now through October 17. Those interested in donating to the food drive can drop off their canned goods Monday – Thursday from 5:30 – 10 p.m. at the satellite campus in Newport News, located at W&M Peninsula Center, 11828-30 Fishing Point Drive, Newport News, Va.
Steven Terveer, executive director of the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula, will speak to students about his extensive experience with non-profit management on Monday, Oct. 17. He will be discussing his commitment to the Foodbank, as well as several federal and state organizations, and how he uses business knowledge to affect more than the bottom line.
