David A. Brown earned his MA in History and Historical Archaeology from The University of Massachusetts, Boston in 2001 and his PhD in American History from the College of William & Mary in 2014. He is co-founder and current co-Director of The Fairfield Foundation, a not-for-profit public archaeology and historic preservation organization based in Gloucester County on Virginia’s Middle Peninsula. He is also the co-owner of DATA Investigations LLC, a cultural resource management firm that assists not-for-profits, localities, and private individuals and businesses. Brown won the Archeological Society of Virginia’s Professional Archaeologist of the Year award in 2010 and has taught classes for NIAHD since 2007 in historic preservation, public history in the 21st century, and the history of museums. Brown is also a founding member of the Werowocomoco Research Group.
