Professor Wins Fellowships, Grant, and Prize

Susan V. WebsterSusan Verdi Webster, the Jane Williams Mahoney Professor of Art and Art History and American Studies, was awarded the Edilia and François-Auguste de Montêquin Senior Fellowship from the Society of Architectural Historians and a Franklin Research Grant from the American Philosophical Society to conduct research in Ecuador for her book on Andean builders in colonial Quito. She was also awarded a QEP/Mellon Grant to take three undergraduate students to Quito, Ecuador, this summer, where they will engage in archival research on colonial art and architecture. Webster's essay, "Masters of the Trade: Native Artisans, Guilds, and the Construction of Colonial Quito," Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians 68:1 (2009): 10-29, won the Harold Eugene Davis Prize from the Mid-Atlantic Council for Latin American Studies for the best article published in 2008-2009.
