Professor Xin Wu's new course "Chinese Painting: History, Theory and Technique"
Offered the first time this semester, Professor Xin Wu’s new course--Chinese Painting: History, Theory and Technique—has engaged students with rare visual materials.
Students are given hands-on opportunities to work with facsimiles of painting masterpieces, and have visited world-class private collectors. This course was three years in the making. Since her arrival at the college in 2011, Professor Wu has obtained grants from Swem Library’s Collection Development Program, William & Mary Confucius Institute and Center for Research Libraries’ Scholars Access Program. These supports have facilitated the purchases of valuable teaching materials now housed at the Special Collections where many class sessions have been held.
