While AI tools can be helpful for brainstorming, organizing ideas or refining grammar, essays and personal statements that depend too much on AI often miss what matters most: your unique perspective, experiences and personal voice. In reviewing admission applications, we remain focused on understanding who you are, reading your individual story and learning why the W&M community could be a good fit for your next chapter.

As part of the Common App, all applicants are required to affirm that the information they submit is "my own work, factually true and honestly presented." W&M is proud to claim the first student honor code in the nation, and this affirmation reflects William & Mary's enduring commitment to a community grounded in trust and integrity.
