Unity Candles

The Wren Building's brass unity candlestick lit by six-inch wick tapers. Those who want to make a unity candle ceremony part of their wedding service have several options. Keep in mind that all candles must be on the altar table.

We will provide six-inch wick-tapers to use in lighting the unity candle (see photo). This is a much safer and more graceful operation than picking up the whole candlestick. The wick-tapers can also be used to light the side candles. Talk to the Wren Building Superintendent during your rehearsal and let him know if you like him to light the side candles before the ceremony begins. We recommend that the unity candles be available at the rehearsal so those lighting them will be familiar with the process on the day of your ceremony.

Wedding couples may use the candlesticks and ivory candles provided by the Wren Building. We have 2 brass side candles (or "mothers' candles") and 1 larger brass candlestick for the unity candle.  The Wren's unity candlestick takes a special candle which we can provide at no charge. Don't forget to take the candle with you when you leave.

Wedding couples also have the option of providing their own side and/or unity candlesticks.  If you provide your own candlesticks, you must provide your own candles. You will also need to let [[weddings]] know in advance so we can remove our candlesticks from the altar table to make room for yours.
