Powell Leadership Scholarships
The Powell Leadership Scholarships are provided by Michael and Jane Powell (85). Mr and Mrs Powell are active and engaged alumni of William & Mary who meet with the scholarship recipients and provide mentorship to emerging leaders.
Powell Leadership Scholar (incoming freshman)
This one-time merit-based scholarship will be given to an incoming freshman who has displayed leadership in high school within the context of clubs, sports teams, student government, and other outside activities. Please submit a list of activities and an essay of up to 1,000 words that describes how your involvement has contributed to your understanding of effective leadership. Include your name, address, telephone, and email address in your application.
2024 Award: $2,200.
We will announce the deadline and nomination form for students entering fall 2025 in May 2025.

Powell Leadership Scholars (rising junior)
This one-time merit-based award will be given to a rising junior who has demonstrated leadership during their first two years at William & Mary. Please submit a resume and cover letter (or up to 500 words) that describes how your college experiences (both academic and experiential) have contributed to your exploration of leadership.2023 Award: $2,200
