Cole McAndrew joined William & Mary’s Office of Government & External Affairs in August, 2026 as Assistant Director of Government Affairs. In this role, Cole works to support and advance the University’s agenda with state legislative and executive branch agencies.
He joined William & Mary from the Virginia Office of Broadband in the Department of Housing and Community Development, where he served as Senior Policy Analyst and led policy development for Virginia’s broadband deployment and digital equity programs. He first joined the Office of Broadband in 2022 as a Virginia Management Fellow.
Cole graduated from William & Mary in 2022 with a B.A. in International Relations, and will finish his M.P.A. at VCU’s L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs in Fall of 2026. Cole grew up in Hanover County, VA and lives in Richmond, VA. He enjoys camping, hiking, and traveling.
