Background

Professor Eun A Jo is an Assistant Professor in the Government Department. She studies how stories, memories, and ideologies stemming from critical junctures in history—such as decolonization and democratization—continue to shape international relations, with a focus on Northeast Asia. You can find her work in academic journals such as Comparative Political Studies, International Organization, and International Security, as well as mainstream outlets such as Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Jo received her PhD in Government from Cornell University (2024). She held an Edelson Fellowship in International Security at the Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College (2024-2025) and a Predoctoral Research Fellowship at the Institute for Security and Conflict Studies at George Washington University (2022-2023). Prior to her doctoral studies, she obtained a BA in Law and Politics at University College Utrecht (2014) and an MPP at the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford University (2015).
