A member of the Research Initiatives Team, Martin Aucoin leads GRI's Tier 2 Exploratory Portfolio, including the Seed and Pathfinder programs. He works closely with faculty, students and staff to launch interdisciplinary research programs, build external partnerships, and translate their work into real-world impact.
An anthropologist trained at Boston University, Martin's also conducts research on global food systems and foodways governance. He is currently working on a project related to poultry commodity chains and the growing consumption of chicken worldwide. He previously worked as a Fellow at the Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in The Gambia.
In his free time, Martin can be found working in the garden, entertaining a toddler, or jamming out to bluegrass, metal and jazz on bass.
