Students and faculty involved with national leadership honor society Omicron Delta Kappa will soon see a familiar College of William and Mary face among its leaders. W. Fanchon (Chon) Glover (M.Ed.’99; Ed.D.’06), assistant to the president for diversity and community initiatives at the College, was recently nominated and selected for one of two “member-at-large” positions on ODK’s board of directors.

“I was shocked, humbled, and excited all at one time,” said Glover, who also serves as the campus advisor to the William & Mary ODK Circle. “I had a wonderful time at the national convention and am honored to have this exciting opportunity.”

Glover, who has been a William & Mary alumni member of ODK since fall of 2009, was nominated by the current board of directors after she was selected to give a presentation at the 2010 National Leadership Summit and Convention this summer in Houston, Texas.

“Her background in higher education, especially in diversity, was an attraction to the board,” said ODK Executive Director Tom Goodale.

As a member-at-large, Glover’s duties will include, but not be limited to, collection and disbursement of funds of the society, safekeeping the society’s records, selecting a site for the annual national convention, and establishing a national headquarters.

Goodale noted that Glover's experience with students will add much to the board.

“She will do well and we are honored to have her on the Board,” he said.

Glover says she hopes to put her experiences working at William & Mary to good use in her newfound role.

“I am very excited,” Glover said. “It will be a great opportunity for me to learn and share more about ODK and to provide assistance in whatever way useful.”
