William & Mary Arboretum
When you walk around our campus and see our mature landscape, you are witnessing the vision of our academic predecessors. They planted a rich green heritage to inspire, instruct, and beautify—a legacy they could only imagine for the decades and centuries ahead. Today, hidden among these shades of green, are over 300 kinds of woody plants, their identities and histories known to only a few.
In spring of 2024, we launched the Arboretum Explorer website and began cataloguing our living heritage as we work to become a certified arboretum. The Explorer allows you to search for plants, take a virtual or outdoor tour, and discover other notable features in the landscape.
