The Office of International Students, Scholars, and Programs has some limited funds from which it provides merit-based scholarships and need-based financial aid to international students at W&M. These funds enable us to recognize the contributions of our international student community and support educational experiences.
Need based financial aid is provided to current W&M international students experiencing unforeseen financial difficulties that arose from circumstances outside their control. Examples of this include unexpected medical costs, home currency devaluation, loss of family support due to illness or death.
Merit based scholarships are given to W&M international students who have distinguished themselves in a combination of the following areas: academic, leadership, and service to the community. “Distinguished” in academics, implies a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Priority is given to students who have been enrolled at least 1 academic year and who have not been awarded other scholarships or university funds.
The amount of each award varies but awards typically do not exceed $1500 and are non-renewable.
Eligibility criteria include:
- Degree-seeking graduate or undergraduate student, in good standing at W&M.
- Valid F-1 or J-1 non-immigrant status.
